Students of the Faculty of Social Sciences engage in Internships for Welfare and Development of Social Services
Within the framework of the ‘Social Care and Welfare’ program, first-year and third-year students of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University “Fehmi Agani” Gjakova are engaged in developing professional internships in various institutions and non-governmental organizations in cities such as: Gjakova, Peja, Deçan, Istog, Klina and beyond. This engagement, under the supervision of Prof. Ass. Dr. Sherif Sejdiu and Ass. (PhD Cand.) Granit Kelmendi, includes the fields of social work, mental health and social services in education, being actively involved in public organizations and institutions such as: Social Work Centres, Mental Health Centres, Residential Care Centres, Associations for Services to People with Disabilities, as well as pre-primary, primary and secondary education institutions.
The need for social service professionals who provide specialized support to vulnerable groups is even more necessary today. The European Union ‘s directives and guidelines for member states, and those in the process of accession, emphasize the importance of strengthening professional capacities in line with labour market needs. The University considers the advancement of these capacities as an institutional obligation, to ensure that the future of our society benefits from high-quality social services, services as close as possible to citizens, as well as services guaranteed by international acts.
This activity is of particular importance for students, as they develop professional skills and apply the knowledge acquired during their studies. Social profile internships offer excellent opportunities to engage in the fields of social welfare and to prepare for future professional challenges.
The Faculty of Social Sciences expresses its gratitude to all institutions, non-governmental organizations, as well as other partners who support the development of study internships and the engagement of our students. Their contribution is valuable for the realization of our objectives and for improving the quality of social services and education in general.
